What is Virtual Switchboard? Virtual Switchboard is a cost-effective alternative to a hardware-based PBX system. When you sign up with RingCentral, you’ll get your own toll free or local number that will serve as your main number. When your callers simultaneously dial your number, they will be directed to extensions or mailboxes. You can also assign extensions to your employees and departments around the world. With FindMe/FollowMe call forwarding, your clients who call your main business number are directed to your geographically dispersed team. You can redirect calls to different numbers at any time, or have calls automatically routed to different numbers in a fixed order. Plus, you can provide your individual extensions with direct dial numbers, allowing your employees and departments to have their own numbers. RingCentral Virtual Switchboard also enables you to have a local number in one city and answer calls to it on a phone with a local area code from another city. All extensions include full-featured fax and voicemail functions. You can receive messages in inbox and online account. You can even listen to your voicemail over the phone. You can be alerted of new messages through RingCentral’s patented Call Controller tool that pops up on your desktop. What is an auto-receptionist? The RingCentral auto-receptionist is a sophisticated form of interactive voice response technology, in which callers are routed to appropriate extensions (employees and departments). The auto-receptionist does not only route callers but also provides you with multi-number call forwarding, Call Whisper, voicemail, internet fax, advanced delivery options, and excellent sound quality. This feature performs much of the same tasks as receptionists. You have different greetings that you assign to your main number and extensions.
