RingCentral UK Joins The Big Xmas Sleepout

1st December post-sleepout update:

Bleary-eyed and fluffy-headed, we returned to our makeshift desks this morning. What a night.

I can report that all eight employees who slept rough last night are still in one piece. It was a life-lesson experience for each of us; it was so cold outside we struggled to sleep. Despite that discomfort, we’re over the moon to have hit our target of £4,000.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part and anyone who sponsored us. It means a lot and it will go a long way. I will post the nationwide figure later today.

Now put this date in your diaries: The next Stay at Home Sleepout is 29th March 2021, and we’ll be scouring the company for volunteers. The first time we slept rough there were three of us; this time there were eight; let’s see how many we get in March!

YOU CAN STILL DONATE: click on the individuals’ names below to donate to the cause. Every little helps.

Here’s the original post

The festive time of year is almost upon us, with decorations already appearing in frosty windows and days getting colder. It’s going to be a different holiday season for everyone this year, but it will still be a time for us to extend goodwill to those in less fortunate situations and support our communities in any way we can.

At RingCentral, we dedicate time to many causes and there is a real belief in giving back that runs throughout the company. We’re looking forward to all the charitable events we have coming up over the next month, and we’re excited to kick off with The Big Xmas Sleepout At Home.

CEOSleepout is a charity that tackles homelessness and poverty in the UK. The organisation relies on funds raised by businesses and community leaders. It is a truly incredible cause and we can’t wait to show our support for the second time this year. Early in June, a bunch of colleagues in London managed to raise £57,000 during the first Stay at Home Sleepout.

On 30th November, Candice Dupuis, Matt Bott, Marvin Tress, Mark Finnigan, Trevor Creek, James Currie, Ben Hollyer and I will give up our beds for one night to support the charity. RingCentral will be donating $80 for each of us who have signed up. We will be joining many others across the country who will be sleeping on the sofa, floor or somewhere safe outside. At the time of writing, James Currie is sixth on the CEOSleepout fundraiser leader board of the 80+ taking part, so let’s see if we can get him to first place! Anyone who wishes to donate can follow the link to each of our giving pages. All money raised will help in the fight to overcome homelessness.

We’re always thinking of activities we can take part in to get the team working together and raising awareness of causes close to their hearts. There are several other initiatives we’ll be involved in to bring awareness to great causes throughout December. Watch this space to find out more!
